It’s all about the bike

Starting to get the bike and gear together. Bringing back my 1992 Specialized Stumpjumper into action! I think a mountain bike is probably a better choice than one of my road bikes, since not that sure how good the roads will be. Also, all the bits i’ve read about touring say that steel is the way to go in case of needing frame repairs i.e. you can hammer or weld things back if needed! Got to start getting the miles in on this to get used to the position etc.

Have a 23kg checked + 23kg hand luggage allowance on the BA flights but from Thai Air flights have only a 20Kg checked + 5kg hand luggage allowance. So need to travel pretty light! Just ordered a Topeak MTX rack with DXP bag that has expandable side panniers (22L max).

Flights booked!!!!

We are doing this!!! Flights booked 🙂
